Cookies Trojans and Worms call them what you like, humans always like to cause drama, and these girl cookies are another ploy by patriarchal society to disgrace women. These girls sit in cages to spread viruses. They have been mutilated and are damaged souls.

My interests in feminist theory and mythology have leaded me to create installations with fluffy innocent looking embellished pink knits that on closer observation are subversive and jarring. In Motherboard’s Olympus I make the connection between the computer’s motherboard, the godly world of Mt Olympus, and the mother’s domestic kitchen. Each ruling their realms with hast and power, be it sending a cookie virus into techno space or an eight headed monster to challenge Jason and the Argonauts. You will find in this work visual references that we are still battling with child order brides, genital mutilation and sex slaves, inequalities faced by women in ancient times and now.
After this installation was given its last stitch it was synchronistic that I came across a book called Full Circle by Ferdinand Mount. I see the historian Mount writing good–humoured, and elegant reflections on human nature in classical times and now. As I an artist I endeavor to represent these reflections in visual form.

The way in which we live our lives correspond- almost eerily so –to the way in which the Greeks and the Romans lived their lives. Ferdinand Mount effortlessly peels back 2000 years of history to show how much we are like the ancients, how in ways we are them, and they are us.
